Metacade has made its grand entrance into the blockchain gaming arena with the release of “Gangs of Metacadia,” a strategy game built on the Base blockchain. This marks a significant milestone for Metacade, the rapidly growing blockchain gaming platform.
The game’s development boasts an impressive pedigree, with contributions from Jamie King, one of the co-founders of Rockstar Games. This collaboration brings a wealth of experience from traditional gaming to the blockchain space, with the aim of bridging the gap between conventional and crypto-native gamers.

Set in a futuristic neon cityscape, “Gangs of Metacadia” immerses players in a world where power dynamics and strategic decision-making reign supreme. The game’s narrative revolves around five major gangs vying for control over different quarters of Metacadia, each with its unique identity and motivations.
Players have the opportunity to align themselves with one of these factions:
- The Neon Syndicate: Masters of media manipulation in the Media Quarter
- The Chrome Serpents: Cyber-mercenaries inspired by the Yakuza, controlling the Entertainment Quarter
- The Digital Drifters: Digital warfare experts dominating the Finance Quarter
- The Iron Shadows: Industrial powerhouses in the Builder Quarter
- The Sewer Rats: Resourceful scavengers thriving in the Undercity
Gameplay Mechanics and Strategy
The core gameplay revolves around completing missions to expand your gang’s influence. Players engage in activities such as recruitment, heists, and resource control. As you progress, you can upgrade vaults, acquire new gear, and initiate battles to strengthen your position in Metacadia.
A key feature of the game is its token-based governance system. Players holding the most $MCADE tokens within their gang wield significant influence, able to drive decisions and initiate large-scale competitions known as wars. This creates a dynamic where in-game success is tied to both strategic gameplay and economic investment.
As for gameplay, Gangs of Metacadia revolves around:
- Recruitment building – this strengthens a gang’s influence across the city. Notably, this will either boost or sabotage your gang’s influence, which is vital for being successful.
- War room – as a gang leader, you can declare wars against rival gangs, with winners gaining the loser’s treasury.
- Heists – by organizing heists, you can steal from rival gangs, increasing both your gang’s treasury and personal rewards.
- Vault – players can upgrade their vault to protect a gang’s stash from rivals.
- Shop – this offers gear which enhances a gang’s performance.
The launch follows the launch of Metacade Tournaments, which are available on mobile and desktop, including Telegram. With a Q4 tournament season boasting a $30K prize pool. In addition to offering more platforms, this launch has also seen over 10 new games join the Metacade game library, including Atlantic Sky Hunter, Bird Bump, Bubble Invasion, Fruit Frenzy, Karate Chop Kick, Leave Me Alone, Mountain Hop, Pet Hop, Spore Hunter, and Wordle. With partnership tournaments mobilising communities on $Chuck, The BasedCartel and Golden Circle.
